Mzobanzi Mboya

Professor Mzobanzi Mboya, Ph.D. obtained a PhD in Education from the University of Washington in Seattle. He returned to South Africa to become a Senior Lecturer and Professor at the University of Cape Town before becoming Administrator and Campus Principal at a university in Pretoria and he later joined New Partnership for Africa’s Development NEPAD.​After a long career in education in his home country, he has been engaged in making contributions beyond South Africa, through partnerships between educational institutions across the continent. Professor Mboya is currently implementing education programs in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the Republic of Mozambique and the Republic of Angola that raise the standards of teaching by upgrading teachers’ training. The project works with teachers that haven’t completed secondary to help them complete Grade 12 as well as provided them with a professional certification. As the program advances, the current ratio of qualified teachers will increase thus improving quality of instruction.
